not enough tea
Nov. 16th, 2010 02:29 pmStill in NC- for the moment.
I am this close to a breakdown. We have been looking for work here so that we can afford to move over to the marina. Nothing biting so far. It's been two weeks, and normally I wouldn't be freaking out. However, we were told that we "definitely have permission until Friday" to remain at the local dock. Any longer, and we'll need to discuss it with the police. I don't know what to do. We can't leave, as we literally have no money left. (We'd need money for fuel to get to a friend's dock in southern Florida, which is still 1000 miles away, and even if we did get down there, we'd be in the same predicament of needing to find employment.) Currently relying on the local food pantry for meals.
We're really stranded here. If we could anchor here, we'd need our inflatable which currently resides with the NJ Coast Guard, in order to get to shore. I've been in tight spots before, but there doesn't seem to be any wiggle room this time. I doubt that we'll be hired within a few days. Have to keep looking for jobs, but need permission to stay here. The marina may still have a slip available but it's a moot point if we cannot pay them. The officer who spoke with me said that they are trying to work with us on this, and she seemed nice enough. However, I'm panicking right now, as southern hospitality can only go so far.
