Poor Taun We had an emergency of his own yesterday. It turned out to be an abcessed gland near his tail, about the size of a grape, very painful, which could have had severe consequences. Was very scary, and quick thinking on my part was the only thing that kept it from rupturing before we could get him to the animal hospital. Good prognosis- just needs to take antibiotics while the wound heals from the inside out. This is the sort of thing that can recur, especially after having had anaesthesia, because kitties need to relearn to use the litterbox.

Despite his ordeal, he is the most zen, sweet Siamese ever. He perked up when he noticed the vet tech and purred, because he loves girls. Seems to understand that they are there to help him, and that the vet will make the pain go away. To be honest, none of our pets have ever given the office trouble. They were very surprised by this fact at a recent immunization visit, especially since siamese and bengals can have a reputation for being high-strung or "wild".

Another interesting note: Taun We likes to ride in the car. Who'd have thought? Normally, Leia rides on my lap in her Sherpa carrier (yowling all the way), and Taun We near my feet. Apparently, he likes to ride on my lap with his head sticking out of the carrier so that he can watch the other cars and people walking by. After his dental extractions, he stuck his head out and rested his chin on the fabric so that he could get his head rubbed. LOL
