homeless

I spent ten hours in the cold waiting for a check that did not arrive, and the guy still hasn't contacted us with a tracking number, so Bryan emailed him to say that if he had gone to FedEx as he states, that they would have given him the number. (Really no excuse for this. If he didn't send the payment, just admit it.) So I have no idea when we'll be seeing any cash from that.

Bryan started his new job, but, much like with Avon products, you have to get started and find clients. Which takes time, plus he'd get 25% of the business he generates. After much deliberation, I'm throwing the towel in. I have until Saturday to make arrangements because then we have to move off the docks. The harbormaster might be able to help us find somewhere to keep the boat in the meantime so that we don't lose our property, but it's looking like my only options are to either take the kids to a homeless shelter or fall upon the mercy of family and see if they can take the kids in for a few weeks. (Don't know how that would affect the food stamps application and such.) But right now, we have no food. We have no income. We have no dinghy to get from a mooring to land, and no mooring to keep the boat on.

I am completely tapped out. I need to find someone who can take in the cats until we can get ourselves a place. There is something I saw in a pet magazine here that fosters pets of the homeless or near-homeless. I'm going to contact them today, and also ask my aunt if she would be willing to take them in short-term. (Same aunt that lives in the town I was born in, so I could pick up my birth certificate there.)  I just can't do this anymore. I can't provide for our kids without help right now, and I don't want to split us all up unless necessary. I know that my family wants the kids to visit, but I can't see shuffling them off from relative to relative for the majority of the summer. Not everyone is in a position to help, whether financially or in terms of living space, plus it isn't fair to expect them to drop everything for us.

I don't know if anyone out there can help, but if you live in MA or RI and could foster two adult, neutered cats while we get back on our feet, I would be grateful. I hate to ask at all, but I can't even buy litter for them right now. I don't want to relinquish them to the local animal shelter; they are as much family as my kids and husband.

please boost the signal...

As of Saturday, we won't be able to live on the boat and we'll have to go to a homeless shelter. Which means finding a temporary home for our two cats. Please spread the word that I need someone who would be willing to foster them in the RI or MA area while we get on our feet again. I don't want to relinquish them to an animal shelter. They are as much family as our kids.

TaunWe: 8yr old chocolate point Siamese, mellow, lapcat
Leia: 8 yr old bengal, energetic and loving
Both cats are up-to-date on shots and I have their health documents. Leia tends towards some digestive complaints when switching foods, but otherwise, they are very healthy. Right now, I am almost out of food and I have no money left, so this is pretty dire.

It kills me to have to do this, but I want what is best for them and I just don't have enough time. As we intend to reclaim them once we find an apartment, this is a last resort measure. Please spread the word and let me know.

the smell of bullshit

HA! the guy who wants to buy the alternator? Now he says that he sent the money via UPS (not FedEx) , that they had a delay in delivering it to us, and that it should get to us by Wed, no Thurs. Funny, though... he still hasn't given us a tracking number. For serious?
