sick and tired
Apr. 22nd, 2010 02:57 pmAs in, my household is in varying degrees of wellness. Mostly, each of us are getting over one illness while getting hit by another. For the most part, this spring has been filled with nausea, dizziness and fatigue for us all. Weird pet ailments, some recurring. Cysts, abscesses, swollen glands, etc. Phantom pains with no discernible cause. Fever and chills. Major digestive complaints without a clear cause. Insomnia and heartburn. In short, we are sick and tired of feeling sick and tired.
Bree missed two full days of school after coming home sick on Monday, then got sick at school again today. Which means not sending her in tomorrow, obviously. Today she nearly passed out or had a seizure, not entirely sure since she was somewhat incoherent when she called me. She saw stars at the bus stop, but it faded. I told her to rest at the school clinic if it happened again, and she boarded the bus. However, all morning she felt ill and shaky, and it gained momentum before lunch. Although her recent EEG came back normal, these symptoms were the only advance warning that she would receive prior to having a seizure in the past. Hence, Bryan driving her home and then going back to work. (As it took me three hours to get her home the other day, this was much appreciated.)
Next week starts the state testing, and our goal had been to avoid missing class until the end of the school year. However, at this point, I'm less concerned with academics than her health. She'll need a doctor's note when she returns to school. For now, though, it's the old standby: rest, liquids, easy to digest foods, etc. It's always been this way with her, that it takes longer for her to recuperate from illness than most kids. *sigh*
